New Research Training Group in IT Security
The German Research Foundation (DFG) will support research in future IT systems with more than €4m. Examples for applications considered are the new German citizencard or intelligent traffic management and their interconnection via the "cloud".

Our team has developed a successful attack to bypass the encryption mechanisms protecting the configuration of modern FPGAs. The attack allows to clone a protected FPGA configuration (similar to copying sofware) and is the basis for advanced attacks such as reverseengineering and the introduction of hardware Trojans.
